24-Hour Detox Fast

Here is a simple plan for a 24-hour detox fast. But first, a word of warning; this is not suitable for diabetics, and if you have some other serious illness or are currently taking prescribed medication, do check with your doctor before trying it (although it should be suitable for almost everyone). Use this for an occasional short, sharp cleansing process or – better still – do it once a month to keep your body’s toxic load to a minimum.

It’s best to start this fast on a day when you’re not working, and it’s much more effective if on the day before, you keep off alcohol, coffee, red meat, and all dairy products. The day after the detox do the same, then return to your normal but (hopefully healthier) eating patterns.

Drink at least six glasses of water, and as much herb or weak China tea as you like throughout the day. Don’t add milk, sugar or sweeteners and avoid fizzy water, canned drinks, squashes, alcohol, and coffee.

First thing in the morning, make up a jug of parsley tea. Pour 850ml or 30fl oz of boiling water over a generous handful of chopped parsley. Cover, leave for ten minutes, strain, refrigerate, and drink throughout the day. Parsley tea is a mild diuretic which eliminates excess fluid and helps the cleansing process. Make sure it’s all gone by bedtime.

 

 

On waking

A glass of Pawpaw and Ginger Refresher

A cup of camomile tea.

 

Mid-morning

Another large glass of hot water with a thick slice of organic, unwaxed lemon.

 

Lunch

A large glass of What a Plum!

Mint tea.

 

Mid-afternoon

A large glass of hot water with a thick slice of organic, unwaxed lemon.

 

Supper

A Passion for Fruit

Camomile tea.

 

Evening

Pep Yourself Up

 

Bedtime

Lime-blossom tea.
