Guava Delight

This smoothie is the ideal combination of instant and slow-release energy with the added sting in the tail of the Brazilian rain-forest herb known as guarana.

Whether you’re sitting in a high-powered meeting, working at your computer or going off to play a weekend game of football or tennis, this is the way to give your vitality a healthy boost.

All the tropical fruits are rich in natural sugars for an instant lift, while the banana provides some protein and lots of complex carbohydrates for a more gradual release of usable energy.

 

Serves 1-2

1 guava

1 mango

1 banana

5g or 1 tsp guarana powder

 

  1. guava delight Peel the guava.

  2. Peel and stone the mango.

  3. Put them both through a juicer.

  4. Peel the banana and whizz with the juice in a blender or food processor.

  5. Add the guarana and whizz again.

  6. Chill before serving.

Guavas and mangoes are rich in betacarotene, vitamin C, natural sugars, and lots of protective antioxidants. The banana contains large amounts of potassium, which is important to prevent cramp during sustained muscular activity.
