Healthy Cherry Fruit Drinks Recipe
The sweetness of the fruit is contrasted here with the sharp, peppery flavour of rocket. Protective, energizing, cleansing, and restorative, this is the ideal drink for anyone recovering from illness, coping with stress or facing a long, difficult day at work.
You may think that rocket doesn’t fit well with sweet flavours and be tempted to leave it out; please don’t, as it enhances the other aromatic tastes.
225g or 8oz fresh cherries
Half a cantaloupe melon
225g or 8oz blueberries
225g or 8oz black, seedless grapes
Half a handful rocket leaves
1. Wash and stone the cherries.
2. Peel and de-seed the melon.
3. Wash the blueberries and grapes.
4. Put all the ingredients into aor food processor and whizz until smooth.
Rocket contains tannins and the volatile oils saffronal and cinelle, together with some pain-relieving salicylates. Cherries are rich in heart-protective magnesium and potassium and also contain exceptionally large amounts of cancer-fighting phytochemicals. Combined with the antioxidants, carotenoids, and vitamin C in the grapes and blueberries, this is a recipe for a long and disease-free life.
