Prune and Apricot Smoothie

Prunes are an immensely effective cleanser due to their laxative effect. But they are much more than that as, weight for weight, they are the most powerful protective food of all.

Regular consumption of prunes really does protect you against premature ageing, heart disease, many forms of cancer, and even wrinkles. Add the nutrients and fibre from apricots and you have a double whammy of a cleanser.

6 fresh apricots

250ml or 9fl oz prune juice

 

1. Wash and stone the apricots.

2. Put into a blender or food processor with the prune juice and whizz until smooth.

 

Vital statistics

Like all dried fruits, prunes have a much higher concentration of nutrients than fresh produce, as all the water has been evaporated. Prune juice is rich in betacarotene, iron, B vitamins, and potassium. The fresh apricots provide soluble fibre, some iron, and lots more betacarotene. It’s the way these two ingredients stimulate bowel function and improve digestion that produces the cleansing benefits of this delicious smoothie.
