Slimming Apple and Spinach Juice Recipe
Juice Yours, and Red Peppers
Almost everyone loves apple juice, and I suppose most of you can imagine combining it with red pepper. But adding spinach? I can understand why you may turn up your nose, yet don’t knock it until you’ve tried it. This is a great slimming drink, as it provides a lot of essential nutrients, absolutely no fat, and very few calories. Don’t forget the nutmeg – this is what makes you feel at peace with the world when you’re struggling to stick to the diet.
1 small red pepper
3 apples, preferably Cox’s orange pippins
140g or 5oz baby spinach leaves
2 pinches nutmeg
1. Wash the first three ingredients.

Vitamin C, betacarotene, folic acid, and iron are all here in abundance, thanks to the red pepper, apples, and spinach. But there’s an extra bonus, as spinach is a rich source of two essential carotenoids which specifically protect the eyes. Lutein and xeaxanthine are known to help prevent age-related macular degeneration, the most common cause of deteriorating vision in older people. Nutmeg contains a wonderful natural chemical called myristicin, which is both mood-enhancing and a very mild hallucinogen.
